Visitors to sites that use Octeasy
This section is about the Octeasy widget, installed on our customers' websites.
- The widget sets no cookies and no trackers, and collects no personal data.
- The settings chosen by the visitor stay in their own browser (local storage), and only if they have changed something. They are not sent to Studjoow.
- Read aloud only uses the voices installed on the device: no text is sent to an online service.
- The widget asks the Octeasy server for the configuration of the site using it. This request contains no data about the visitor, apart from the technical information that comes with any connection to a server (IP address, browser), which is only used to answer it.
To be decided before accounts open. Anonymous statistics (paid plans, not active yet): simple daily totals per site, with no cookie or identifier. The system will be checked against the guidelines of the CNIL (the French data protection authority) on audience measurement exempt from consent before it is enabled.
Visitors to the Octeasy website
This section is about the octeasy.com website itself, not the widget. The website uses audience measurement without cookies, which is not used in the customer area (account, login, administration).
Audience measurement, without cookies
The website counts its visits with Vercel Web Analytics, from Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States.
- No cookies, nothing is stored in your browser. The script and the data it sends go through the website's own domain.
- Data recorded: page viewed, referring page, country, browser, operating system, device type. Your IP address is not kept.
- To count visits without identifying you, a fingerprint (a code calculated from the request) is used. It is kept for 24 hours at most, then erased.
- We only see overall statistics, kept for 12 months in the Vercel dashboard.
- As Vercel Inc. is based in the United States, these statistics may be processed there. Vercel states that it is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which governs these transfers.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (knowing which pages are read, to improve the website). This measurement stores nothing in your browser and cannot follow you from one day to the next, so it does not require your consent.
Search engines
The website is registered with Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and IndexNow, to monitor how it appears in search engines. These tools are used by Studjoow and set nothing on visitors' devices: the Google verification tag is plain text in the page code.
Octeasy customers
- Account: email address, name of the organisation. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Sites: name, declared domains, widget settings. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Billing: billing address, VAT number, subscription history. Payment is processed by Stripe. Legal basis: accounting obligations.
- Security: log of logins and sensitive actions, without unnecessary data. Legal basis: legitimate interest (protecting accounts).
In the customer area, the website sets login cookies, only when a customer logs in. They are strictly necessary for logging in, can only be read by the server, and last 7 days at most.
Retention periods
- Deleted account: data erased within 30 days.
- Invoices: kept for the period required by accounting obligations.
- Technical logs: 12 months at most.
- Audience measurement: fingerprint erased within 24 hours, overall statistics kept for 12 months.
Processors
- Supabase (database and login), European Union region.
- Vercel (website hosting, Paris region, and audience measurement without cookies).
- Stripe (payment).
- An email sending service, for login links (being chosen).
Studjoow is established in Israel, a country that benefits from an adequacy decision of the European Commission for transfers of personal data.
Your rights
You can request access to your data, its rectification, erasure or portability, or object to processing, by writing to hello@octeasy.com. Exporting your data and deleting your account will also be possible directly from the customer area. You can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (the French data protection authority).
